Alien Beacon

Knobs & Buttons
The three knobs on the top face are used to offset the speed, hue and brightness of the LED programs.
The middle button is used to switch to the next program.

Customization
The Alien Beacon runs color programs from an SD card.
A 128MB micro SD card is included, along with 10 program presets.

Custom color programs are created using the Alien Bacon (software) program.

Power & LEDs
The Alien Beacon requires 12V DC power.
5-16V works too, as long as the input power matches the requirement of the LED strip.

When choosing the correct power rating for an LED strip, a good rule of thumb is to choose an adapter that is rated 1A for every 300 pieces of 12V RGB LEDs.

The Alien Beacon itself is rated at 120W (ie, 10A @12V) max.

The default LED strip pin order is BRGV. Although, the channel order outputs can be set to any order using the Alien Bacon (software) to create color programs.

Technical
The Alien Beacon is powered by an Atmel ATMEGA328PB chip. It drives three FDD8896 PowerTrench MOSFETs for each LED color channel. On board, it features three ALPS linear potentiometers, a spring-retraction micro SD card slot, and tactile push button in the center.

The board is also re-programmable through the exposed ISP pins.
